Henri-Jules de Bourbon-Condé (1643-1709) führte den letzten Willen seines Vaters Louis II de Bourbon-Condé aus und begann 1687 mit dem Bau der ersten Pfarrkirche von Chantilly nach einem Plan von Jules Hardouin Mansart. Die Kirche wurde 1691 fertiggestellt und im März 1692 unter dem Namen "Notre-Dame de l'Assomption" (Unsere Liebe Frau von der Himmelfahrt) geweiht. Dieses Datum gilt als offizieller Gründungsakt der Stadt Chantilly. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt wurden in den vom Pfarrer geführten Kirchenbüchern Taufen, Eheschließungen und Beerdigungen verzeichnet.
