Die Dingle-Halbinsel ist nach der Stadt Dingle benannt. Die Halbinsel wird auch häufig Corca Dhuibhne (Corcu Duibne) genannt, selbst wenn diejenigen, die sich darauf beziehen, Englisch sprechen. Corca Dhuibhne, was "Samen oder Stamm von Duibhne" bedeutet (eine Göttin aus der irischen Mythologie und ein irischer Clanname), bezieht sich auf die túath (Volk, Nation) von Corco Dhuibhne, die die Halbinsel im Mittelalter bewohnten und auch eine Vielzahl von Territorien im Süden und Osten von County Kerry hielten.
