Briesensee, in Lower Sorbian Brjazyna nad Jazorom, is a district of the municipality of Neu Zauche in the Dahme-Spreewald district of Brandenburg. The area belongs to the Lieberose/Oberspreewald office and was an independent municipality until October 26, 2003. Until 1939, the place was called Briesen or Briesen near Lübben.
Briesensee is surrounded by pine forests in Lower Lusatia, located just under eight kilometers east of Lübben at the northern edge of the Spreewald, and is part of the official settlement area of the Sorbs/Wends. The district of Briesensee borders Biebersdorf to the north, Klein Leine to the northeast, Caminchen to the east, Neu Zauche and Wußwerk to the southeast, Alt Zauche with Burglehn to the south, Radensdorf to the southwest, and a short stretch of the city of Lübben to the west.
