Description by the author

Carcassonne is a southern French city about 90 kilometers southeast of Toulose. The city has a very rich history, of which the period around the 12th and 13th century are the most well known. The Cathars had their peak during this period, and the medieval character that was created then still lives on in the architecture of the old city. The walk tries to capture the special atmosphere that exists by combining both the new and the old part of town. The most notable sights that will be visited during the tour are the Château Comtal, the Basilique Saint-Nazaire, the Place Carnot, ... and many other beautiful locations.
