La pintoresca iglesia de San Juan en Eremo data de 1682 y está dedicada a San Juan Bautista. Ya había una iglesia aquí en 984, pero fue destruida durante la Inundación de Santa Isabel de 1377. El camino exterior en siete estaciones ilustra la vida de Juan Bautista. Se ofrecían oraciones contra enfermedades como las convulsiones, los 'seskens' y la enfermedad de la caída. Frente a la iglesia se encuentran 'Pinte ende Sproete', dos hijas del gallo Cantecleer de la historia de Reynaert. Una impresión de Reynaert está impresa en la columna. Originalmente, este pueblo se llamaba Sint-Jansdorp, más tarde se añadió el término 'in eremo', que en latín significa 'en el desierto'.
