Aarlanderveen se menciona por primera vez como una severidad en el contrato de compromiso de Floris IV de Holanda y Machteld de Brabante. A lo largo de los siglos, el pueblo pasa a ser propiedad de varias familias nobiliarias, incluyendo a Van Oudshoorn y Van IJsselstein. Al inicio del Renacimiento en 1584 o 1593, Aarlanderveen pasa a ser propiedad del mariscal de campo Ernst van Mansveld o Von Mandelsloh.
