En el siglo XVII, se cruzaba el Lek en la ruta Utrecht-Gorinchem con un ferry entre Nieuwegein y Vianen, como muestra esta impresión de Abraham Rademaker de 1630. En ese entonces, aún no había puente.
Peatones y ciclistas pueden seguir cruzando en el ferry. Tenga en cuenta los horarios: de lunes a viernes de 07:00 a 18:00 horas, los sábados, domingos y festivos de 10:00 a 18:00 horas. Desde el 1 de noviembre hasta el 1 de abril, el ferry no opera los domingos ni durante las vacaciones de Navidad. Desde la Ascensión hasta el 31 de agosto, el ferry opera los viernes, sábados, domingos y festivos hasta las 20:30 horas. Los ciclistas deben comprar un billete a bordo por 1,50 €: ¡solo con tarjeta EC!
Si el ferry no está en funcionamiento, puede cruzar el Lek por el cercano puente A2.
