L'ancienne station émetteur Radio Kootwijk est un phare au milieu de la nature de Veluwe. Depuis cet ancien station émetteur, des contacts ont été maintenus avec les Indes néerlandaises au siècle dernier.
Le calme, l'espace et l'obscurité entourent le design frappant de l'architecte Julius Maria Luthmann. Ils donnent au complexe de bâtiments une dimension particulière.
Après la disparition de la fonction d'émetteur, KPN Telecom a vendu en 2003 les bâtiments et les 400 hectares de nature environnants à l'État. Différentes administrations recherchent maintenant ensemble une nouvelle destination pour ce complexe unique et fragile.
