Il municipio di Sternberg risale al XIX secolo. Si trova nel centro di Sternberg, direttamente nella piazza del mercato del nucleo urbano, in prossimità della chiesa cittadina di stile gotico primitivo, dedicata a Santa Maria e San Nicola.
Tra il 1230 e il 1250, Sternberg viene pianificata con una rete stradale a griglia in un leggero impianto ellittico. Nel 1248 il principe Pribislaw I concesse alla località di Sternberg il diritto di città. Il primo municipio bruciò, come molti edifici, durante il grande incendio della città del 1308.
