De parochiekerk van Samodães is een primitieve kerk, waarvan de oorsprong teruggaat tot de 9e eeuw.
Samodães is trots op haar huidige status. Het is het resultaat van de herbouw van de eerste kerk, werk begonnen in 1702 door Meester Domingos Ferreira. De romp en het koor worden omlijst door sterke bewerkte hoekstenen op puntgevels (Vergílio Correia "Diário de Coimbra"). Het heeft houtsnijwerk van grote artistieke expressie uit de 18e eeuw. Een prachtige bedekking van vergulde en gepolychromeerde beelden beslaat de bovenkanten van het koor en het schip, gerangschikt in twee brede arcades, die de tribune van het hoogaltaar, de triomfboog en de zijaltaren herbergen, (Vergílio Correia, "Diário de Coimbra").
De beschermheilige van de parochiekerk van Samodães is Petrus.
