I 1841 ankom nogle Ursula-søstre til Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver for at oprette en skole for folkeskolestuderende piger. Snart begyndte de også med et betalende kostskole, der fik international tiltrækning. Arkitekturen og indretningen af bygningerne og parken vidner om denne strålende fortid. Også i dag går der 1700 elever i skole.
Vinterhaven i art nouveau fra 1900 fungerede som en elegant modtagelsesrum for besøgende til de hundrede bosiddende piger.
