De villa werd opgericht als elegante residentie van de familie Rubino, een familie van industriëlen uit Biella die actief was in de productie van landbouw- en ambachtsgereedschappen. De bouwactiviteiten werden uitgevoerd in de jaren 1920.
De villa bevindt zich in het gebied Croce Serra op het grondgebied van Andrate, op ongeveer 915 meter hoogte. Het heeft een panoramisch uitzicht op het morene amphitheater van Ivrea.
