I cattolici di Hedel inizialmente disponevano di una chiesa di San Willibrordo che nel 1571 passò però alla religione riformata, e nel 1640 fu costruita una nuova chiesa in questo luogo.
I cattolici poterono utilizzare a partire dal 1680 una chiesa-silo che si trovava lungo la Molendijk. Quando le religioni furono equiparate durante il periodo francese, fu possibile costruire una nuova chiesa. Questa fu eretta sul luogo della fattoria del Castello di Hedel. Nel 1802 questa chiesa, con la canonica, fu messa in uso. Questo edificio fu distrutto nel 1944.
