The Dune Forests of De Haan is one of the green jewels along the coast. The area consists of three parts and is as much as 152 hectares in size. You can find both open dune landscapes with the typical fauna and flora of the coast, as well as extensive wooded dunes. Special inhabitants of the Dune Forests of De Haan are the protected red wood ants, which can live in a single anthill with up to 700,000 individuals!
