Turgesius o Thorgils fue un caudillo vikingo que lideró las incursiones y pillajes en Irlanda y de quien se comenta conquistó Dublín. No obstante, no está muy claro si los nombres que aparecen en los anales irlandeses identifican a los originales en nórdico antiguo Thurgestr o Thorgísl.[1][2] John O'Donovan y Charles Haliday le identifican como Ragnar Lodbrok, pero no se ha aceptado como un argumento sólido en general.[3]
Su nombre aparece por primera vez en el saqueo de Armagh en 832,[4] y según la única cita histórica sobre Turgesius que procede de los anales de Ulster, aquel que se hizo proclamar rey de la isla en el año 839 y dispuso sacrificios a Thor en Dublín, Armagh y Clonmacnoise, procedente de:
