De reden waarom de natuur deze baai heeft gevormd in de vorm van een de buik van een os (dat is wat Voidokilia betekent) vindt zijn oorsprong in de berg Kyllini . De god Hermes werd geboren in een grot op de berg Kyllini. Na zijn geboorte verliet hij de grot en stal de kudde ossen van zijn halfbroer Apollo . Apollo vroeg zijn vader Zeus om hulp omdat hij zijn kudde niet kon vinden. Zeus beval zijn zoon Hermes om de kudde terug te geven aan Apollo. Apollo was nu voorzichtiger bij het bewaken van zijn kudde. Hij verstopte ze in de grot van Nestor, naast deze prachtige baai van Voidokilia. De natuur werd geïnspireerd door de buik van de ossen, en dus creëerde de baai met deze vorm: Voidokilia.
