El cantant florentí de la plaça St Nizier és una obra de Paul Dubois , escultor i pintor que va néixer a Nogent-Sud-Seine el 1829 i va morir a París el 1905. Va ser un dels artistes més destacats de finals del segle XIX.
Aquesta escultura, realitzada després del seu viatge a Itàlia, va ser premiada amb una medalla d'honor al Saló de París del 1863 i es considera una obra important que combina el detall realista amb la delicadesa i l'elegància de les formes.
Una còpia en bronze daurat s'exhibeix permanentment al Museu d'Orsay a París.
