L' església parroquial de Ponte de Lima també rep el nom d'església de Santa Maria dos Anjos .
L´església data d´un temple construït entre els segles XII i XIII. L'església va ser reconstruïda al segle XV.
La major part de les escultures de l'interior són del segle XVIII . La més important es troba al costat sud del creuer i consisteix en un gran retaule d'estil nacional de 1729, dedicat a la Mare de Déu dels Dolors .
El rosetón neogòtic va ser realitzat en 1932, inspirat en el de l'església de São Francisco de Porto.
