L' église paroissiale de Ponte de Lima est également appelée église de Santa Maria dos Anjos .
L'église date d'un temple construit entre le XIIe et le XIIIe siècle. L'église a été reconstruite au XVe siècle.
La plupart des sculptures à l'intérieur datent du XVIIIe siècle . Le plus important se trouve du côté sud du transept et consiste en un grand retable de style national de 1729, dédié à Notre-Dame des Douleurs .
La rosace néo-gothique a été réalisée en 1932, inspirée de celle de l'église São Francisco de Porto.
