La chiesa parrocchiale di Ponte de Lima è chiamata anche chiesa di Santa Maria dos Anjos .
La chiesa risale a un tempio costruito tra il XII e il XIII secolo. La chiesa fu ricostruita nel XV secolo.
La maggior parte delle sculture all'interno risalgono al XVIII secolo . La più importante si trova sul lato sud del transetto ed è costituita da una grande pala d'altare in stile nazionale del 1729, dedicata alla Madonna Addolorata .
Il rosone neogotico fu realizzato nel 1932, ispirandosi a quello della chiesa di São Francisco a Porto.
