Den ligger i den øverste Timmeltal i den østtyrolerske kommune Prägraten på en højde af 2521 m over havets overflade, lidt uden for Nationalparken Hohe Tauern. Knapt en time nord for hytten ligger Eissee på 2664 m over havets overflade bag en dæmning. Hytten blev bygget i 1980 og tilbyder i alt 45 sovepladser. Den er udgangspunkt for ti trekantede toppe.
