Den af sangen Rue des Bouchers af Johan Verminnen var de seneste år blevet til en turistfælde, hvor man hellere ikke skulle komme, og slet ikke for at spise. Byen Bruxelles tog i 2018 hårdt fat. Det var allerede forbudt at lokke folk ind med attraktive måltidstilbud. Nu måtte også terrasserne og de karakteristiske overdækninger forsvinde for at sikre brandsikkerheden. En brandbil skal nemlig kunne komme igennem gaden, fortalte byens tjenester. Følge: to tredjedele af restauranterne lukkede. Lidt efter lidt kommer der igen liv i gaden, med fokus på mangfoldighed i butikkerne.
