Bladet fra vintereg (Quercus petraea) er næsten rundt til oval, med regelmæssige lapper. Vinteregen må ikke forveksles med summeregen, som den ligner meget. Forskellen: bladet fra vinteregen har en stilk, mens agern ikke har nogen stilk. Ved summeregen er det lige omvendt.
Bladene fra vinteregen bliver nogle gange spist af egeprocessormymoren. Brandhårene fra denne larve kan forårsage kraftig irritation hos mennesker og dyr.
