Postelvaartje blev faktisk gravet for at vande markerne. Den 'obelisk', der står her, er en gammel grænsesten. Den markerede dengang det punkt, hvor ikke mindre end 7 herligheder mødtes: Bergeijk, Luykgestel, Mol, Balen, Lommel, Dessel og Postel.
Formodentlig blev den placeret i begyndelsen af 1600-tallet. Fra 1843 mistede den sin funktion, da det nye Belgien fik 122 hektar mere. Stenen forsvandt under jorden, men blev genudgravet for at genindrette stedet i 1981.
