Det 'Prinselige Begijnhof Ten Wijngaarde' med hvidmalede facader og en stille klosterhave blev grundlagt i 1245. I denne del af verdensarven levede tidligere begijntjes, emanciperede kvinder, der dog var lægfolk, men som alligevel levede et fromt og cølibatært liv. I dag beboes Begijnhof af søstre fra Sankt Benediktus Ordenen og enlige kvindelige borgere fra Brugge. I Begijnenhuset får man stadig et godt indtryk af, hvordan det daglige liv så ud i det 17. århundrede.
