Et vigtigt knudepunkt i 1. verdenskrig var stationen i Adinkerke, der fungerede som et modtagelsescenter for sårede. Soldater blev bragt med hest og vogn eller med sporvogn til stationen for derfra at rejse ind i landet med tog. Militærtransport af ammunition, forsyninger og tropper fik dog fortrinsret på det enkeltspor. I marts 1915 var der en enorm tilstrømning af sårede. Vidste du, at Marie Curie dengang hastede afsted med en radiologivogn til stationen for at screenes for sårede soldater?
