Den krydser Hérensdalen og landsbyen Bramois. Den udspringer fra sammenløbet af Borgne d'Arolla og Borgne de Ferpècle, ved Les Haudères. I bunden af dalen fordyber den sig i dybe kløfter på næsten 3 km i længde, hvor bunden huser eremitagen Longeborgne og løber ud i Rhône ved højden 493 m/m.
En del af vandet opsamles til installationerne ved Grande Dixence, især ved dæmningen Ferpècle og ovenfor pumpe stationen Arolla. En del af vandet opsamles ved dæmningen La Luette samt ved Sauterot siden 1915, hvilket årligt producerer 85 GWh ved Bramois kraftværket.
