Schonnebeck er en bydel i byen Essen. Schonnebeck ligger nordøst for bymidten og grænser mod nord til Katernberg, vest til Stoppenberg, syd til Frillendorf samt Kray og øst til bydelen Rotthausen i nabobyen Gelsenkirchen.
Navnet stammer fra "smuk bæk", smuk becke. Schonnebeck blev første gang nævnt i 1242 og tilhørte fra 1808 den nydannede kommune Altenessen, som i 1813 blev hævet til en selvstændig borgmesterkontor. Den 1. januar 1874 blev det nye borgmesterkontor Stoppenberg udskilt fra dette, som Schonnebeck blev en del af. Denne tilknytning forblev indtil sammenlægningen med byen Essen i 1929.
