Der Märkische Sprecher rapporterede i 1912 om byens planer om at tillade en "reguleret bordeldrift i umiddelbar nærhed af centrum" på den daværende Maarbrücker Straße. Et forløber havde området haft siden 1904 i Hamme med mindst otte bordeldrifter langs jernbanesporene på Kurze Straße; betydelige konflikter førte til genbosættelse.
