Eremitagen Mare de Déu del Socors ligger under et klippefyldt massiv over floden Ave og har en særlig arkitektur: den har en kvadratisk grundplan og er dækket af en hvælving.
Interiøret er dekoreret med smukke fliser fra det 18. århundrede, der skildrer Kristi liv, og en altertavle i rokoko-stil.
Det blev bygget mellem 1599 og 1603 af Gaspar Manuel , muligvis som opfyldelse af et løfte til Vor Frue af Hjælp, en svoren ridder af Kristi Orden og kaptajn på ruterne til Indien, Kina og Japan, og hans kone Bárbara Ferreira d'Almeida, som er begravet her.
Fra platformen omkring templet kan du nyde en uforlignelig udsigt over Vila do Conde.
