La Cappella della Madonna del Soccorso è situata sotto un massiccio roccioso che domina il fiume Ave e presenta un'architettura particolare, con pianta quadrata coperta da una volta.
L'interno è decorato con splendide piastrelle del XVIII secolo raffiguranti la vita di Cristo e con una pala d'altare rococò.
Fu costruito tra il 1599 e il 1603 da Gaspar Manuel, forse per adempiere a un voto fatto a Nostra Signora del Soccorso, cavaliere giurato dell'Ordine di Cristo e capitano delle rotte verso l'India, la Cina e il Giappone, e a sua moglie Bárbara Ferreira de Almeida, che sono qui sepolti.
Dalla piattaforma che circonda il tempio si può godere di una vista impareggiabile su Vila do Conde.
