'Auf eigene Gefahr' steht auf dem Schild nahe dem Hof. Die Landschaft ist zu schön, um sich darüber Sorgen zu machen. Das erste, was Sie vom Schlosskomplex sehen, ist der wunderschöne Teich, hinter dem sich die Wälder erstrecken. Das Schloss Herlaar stammt aus dem 13. Jahrhundert und ist vollständig von einem Graben umgeben. Der Zugang befindet sich hinter einer richtigen Zugbrücke, flankiert von zwei runden Wachtürmen. Links auf der Wimp steht die ehemalige Herlaarmühle aus dem 15. Jahrhundert. Sie ist vom Unterschlägertyp, was bedeutet, dass das Wasser die Unterseite des Rades in Bewegung setzt.
