'Bajo su propio riesgo' indica el cartel cerca de la granja. El paisaje es demasiado hermoso para preocuparse por eso. Lo primero que ves del complejo del castillo es el hermoso estanque con los bosques detrás. El castillo de Herlaar data del siglo XIII y está completamente rodeado de murallas. El acceso se encuentra más allá de un verdadero puente levadizo flanqueado por dos torres de vigilancia redondas. A la izquierda en la Wimp está el antiguo molino de Herlaar del siglo XV. Es del tipo de caída, lo que significa que el agua mueve la parte inferior de la rueda.
