Lommel hat noch viel Naturschönheit mit u.a. wunderschönen Dünen, den Sandgruben mit dem feinsten weißen Sand Europas, dem Naturschutzgebiet De Watering, der Lommeler Sahara, mit
zahlreichen Wäldern und Heideflächen. Lommel ist die drittgrößte Einkaufsstadt Limburgs mit einem gemütlichen Handelszentrum und dem Einkaufszentrum De Singel.
Die Gemeinde Lommel liegt am Wasserscheide der Einzugsgebiete von Schelde und Maas, und innerhalb dieser Einzugsgebiete von Nete bzw. Dommel.
Lommel hat ein ausgedehntes Radwegenetz und zahlreiche Wanderwege. So kann man in den Naturschutzgebieten Pijnven, Lommeler Sahara oder De Watering die Natur und geschützte Vogel- und Pflanzenarten genießen.
Die Gemeinde Lommel hat etwa dreißig Kapellen, die über die verschiedenen Ortsteile verteilt sind.
