Das Schloss von Genoelselderen und seine Umgebung sind reich an historischen Erzählungen. Das Schloss liegt an der alten römischen Straße, die Tongeren mit Köln verband. Im Wald hinter dem Schloss befindet sich ein gallo-römisches Tumulus. Die erste Erwähnung des Schlosses stammt aus dem späten dreizehnten Jahrhundert. Bis 1718 gehörte das Schloss der Adelsfamilie von Elderen (eine illustre Linie: Jean-Louis von Elderen war Fürstbischof von Lüttich). Das Schloss wurde während der Französischen Revolution zerstört. Der aktuelle Eigentümer, Jaap van Rennes, ist ein entfernter Nachkomme von Jean III. von Renesse des Éperons d'or.
