Wakken ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Westflandern und ein Stadtteil von Dentergem. Das Dorf liegt im Osten der Provinz, nahe der Mündung von Leie und Mandel.
Ein Wak war früher ein sehr morastiger Ort. Der Gemeinde-Name soll von 'wack-hem' stammen. Dassonville ist der Meinung, dass 'Wackinna' eine romanische Pluralform ist mit der Bedeutung: Boden, der zu etwas gehört, das den Namen trägt und mit 'wak' beginnt, der Name entweder einer Person oder eines Flusses.
