Am Kanal Bossuit-Kortrijk gingen die Schiffe in Moen anfangs kurz unter die Erde: sie mussten einen 611 Meter langen Tunnel durchfahren. Bei Arbeiten am Kanal in den 1970er Jahren wurde dieser Tunnel durch ein offenes Fahrwasser ersetzt. Das brachte 225.000 Lastwagen mit Lehm, die auf einem landwirtschaftlichen Gebiet neben dem Kanal abgeladen wurden.
1988 wurde das 26 Hektar große Gebiet an das Agentur für Natur und Wald übergeben und 2001 für die Öffentlichkeit geöffnet. Man kann dort jetzt in einem schönen und vielfältigen Grüngebiet spazieren gehen, das unter anderem Wälder, Wiesen, Teiche und Brachen umfasst. Shetlandponys sind die Rasenmäher des Dienstes. Man kann den Wald auf dem Orveyt-Wanderweg oder dem Wandernetz 'Land von Mortagne' erkunden.
