Der Hooge-Crater-Friedhof wurde im Oktober 1917 angelegt, als Hooge zu Beginn der Dritten Schlacht von Ypern in alliierte Hände gefallen war. Nach dem Waffenstillstand wurde der Friedhof um etwa 5800 Gräber von Schlachtfeldern und kleineren Friedhöfen in der Umgebung erweitert. Bemerkenswert ist, dass der Stone of Remembrance, der vorne auf dem Friedhof steht, in einer kreisförmigen Vertiefung platziert ist: ein Symbol für die vielen Krater, die hier in der Umgebung geschlagen wurden.
