Bazel ist ein Dorf in Belgien. Es ist seit 1977 Teilgemeinde der fusionierten Gemeinde Kruibeke, im Osten des Waasland. Am 1. Januar 2008 hatte Bazel 5242 Einwohner.
Allgemein wird, auf Anordnung des örtlichen Heimatkundlers Alois Maris, angenommen, dass der Ursprung des Namens Bazel, oder genauer gesagt der alte Name Barsela, eine Zusammenfügung der fränkischen Wörter baar = kahl oder wild, und sele oder sela = Wohnung ist. Vergleiche auch mit den belgischen Dörfern Beerzel und Beersel. Barsela entwickelte sich über Baersele und Baersel zu Baesel, Basel und Bazel. Die Herren von Barsela bewohnt das Schloss Wissekerke in Bazel.
