Wenn du vor dem Poekekasteel mit seiner rosa Fassade stehst, könntest du schwören, dass du dich an der Loire und einem ihrer vielen Schlösser befindest. Es ist nicht der bekannte französische Schlossfluss, sondern der bescheidene Poekebeek, der an seinen Mauern entlang plätschert. Um das Schloss herum liegt der wunderschöne, bewaldete Poekepark, wo du stundenlang die Natur und die Stille genießen kannst. Das Poekekasteel hat seinen Ursprung im elften Jahrhundert, erreichte aber seinen Höhepunkt unter Victor Pycke de Peteghem, der das Schloss 1872 kaufte. Im ehemaligen Kutschenhaus kannst du das Natuureducatief Centrum besuchen, wo du die Geschichte der Landschaftsbildung in Poeke und Umgebung betrachten kannst. Poeke wurde einst von Guido Gezelle besungen und strahlt immer noch viel Atmosphäre aus.
