Der Standort befindet sich im westlichen Hainaut, südlich der Stadt Tournai, an der Stelle „Faubourg de Valenciennes“. Es handelt sich um einen ehemaligen Kalkofen, der aus Kalksteinen gebaut wurde und dessen Anwesenheit mit den zahlreichen Steinbrüchen verbunden ist, die früher in der Region ausgebeutet wurden. Das Bauwerk, das aus 13 Bögen besteht, von denen zwei verriegelt sind, erweist sich als besonders günstig für die Überwinterung von Fledermäusen. So wurden in den letzten Jahren von 2012 bis 2016 nicht weniger als fünf Arten nachgewiesen: Daubentons Maus (Myotis daubentonii), Bartfledermaus oder Brandts Maus (Myotis mystacinus/brandtii), Natterer Maus (Myotis nattereri), ausgeschnittene Ohren Maus (Myotis emarginatus) und Gemeine Fledermaus (Pipistrellus pipistrellus).
