Dieses kunstvolle Andenken am Watouplein erinnert an den Dichtersommer von 1988 und wurde von Hugo Heyrman realisiert. In Dublin hatte dieser Künstler bereits ein Mosaikprojekt umgesetzt und am Watouplein "synthetisiert" er im Computerstil die Karte von Europa, wobei das Grenzdorf Watou in der Mitte von 64.500 venezianischen Glas-Mosaikstücken als Bindeglied zwischen 2 europäischen Kulturen fungiert. Die Karte von Europa ist in einer Künstlerpalette gefasst, und eine gewisse Ironie fehlt nicht bei dem Künstler, der Watou als "das Zentrum der Welt" suggeriert. Der Dichtersommer '88 trug den Titel VISUALIA 88 - eine Art der Annäherung.
