This artistic memento at the Watouplein commemorates the Poetry Summer of 1988 and was created by Hugo Heyrman. In Dublin, this artist already realized a mosaic project and at the Watouplein, he "synthesizes" the map of Europe in a computer style with the border village Watou made from 64,500 Venetian glass mosaic pieces as a binding element between two European cultures. The map of Europe is framed in a painter's palette, and there is a hint of irony from the artist who suggests Watou as "the center of the world." The Poetry Summer '88 was titled VISUALIA 88 - a way of approaching.
