Der Kormoran ist deutlich im Kanal präsent. Dieser große Vogel (77 bis 94 cm) mit seinem überwiegend schwarzen Gefieder und dem kräftigen Schnabel taucht regelmäßig unter Wasser, um Fisch zu fangen. Jeden Tag frisst der Kormoran sein eigenes Gewicht an Fisch. Um schnell voranzukommen, hat dieser Wasservogel wunderschöne Schwimmhäute. Wenn er aus dem Wasser kommt, um sich auf dem Boden oder auf einem Ast auszuruhen, breitet er seine Flügel und den Schwanz aus, um sein Gefieder trocknen zu lassen. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Vögeln ist es nämlich nicht wasserabweisend.
