Bad Liebenstein – bis 1907 Liebenstein – ist der namensgebende und einwohnerstärkste Ortsteil der Stadt Bad Liebenstein im Wartburgkreis in Thüringen. Der Ortsteil hat eine Tradition als Kur-, Bäder- und Tourismusstadt. Überregional bekannt wurde er als Sommerresidenz der Meininger Herzogsfamilie, als Thüringens ältestes Heilbad und als größter Herzkurort der DDR im Naturpark Thüringer Wald. Mit 342.000 Übernachtungen lag die Stadt dem Thüringer Landesamt für Statistik nach im Jahr 2016 an fünfter Stelle bei Thüringens Tourismuszielen. Inzwischen ist die Stadt aufgrund sinkender Übernachtungszahlen auf Platz 7 abgerutscht.
Zum 31. Dezember 2012 fusionierte die Stadt Bad Liebenstein mit den Nachbargemeinden Schweina und Steinbach zu einer neuen Stadt Bad Liebenstein mit etwa 8000 Einwohnern.
