Der Ort hat einschließlich der Gemeindeteile Wildenbruch-Bergheide, Wildenbruch-Lehnmarke und Wildenbruch-Six 2.089 Einwohner auf einer Fläche von 11,22 km² und liegt an der Landesstraße 73 zwischen Michendorf und Luckenwalde am Rande des Naturparks Nuthe-Nieplitz. Der Ortsteil erstreckt sich auf dem Gebiet zwischen der Bundesstraße 2 im Westen, der Bundesautobahn 10 im Norden und dem Großen Seddiner See im Süden.
Regional bekannt ist der Ort unter anderem durch seine wuchtige Feldsteinkirche und den Golf- und Countryclub Seddiner See, dessen zwei 18-Loch-Golfplätze sich am Nordufer des Sees vollständig auf dem Gebiet Wildenbruchs erstrecken. Das Dorf hatte im Mittelalter eine wichtige strategische Funktion zum Schutz der Heer- und Handels- sowie späteren Poststraße Leipzig–Berlin und wurde bei der Deutschen Ostsiedlung entsprechend großzügig ausgestattet.
