La commune compte 2 089 habitants sur une superficie de 11,22 km² et se trouve sur la route nationale 73 entre Michendorf et Luckenwalde, à la lisière du parc naturel de Nuthe-Niéplitz. Le quartier s’étend dans la zone située entre la Bundesstraße 2 à l’ouest, l’A 10 au nord et le Großer Seddiner See au sud.
Le village est connu dans la région pour son église massive en pierre des champs et le Seddiner See Golf and Country Club, dont les deux parcours de golf de 18 trous s’étendent entièrement sur la rive nord du lac dans la région de Wildenbruch. Au Moyen Âge, le village avait une fonction stratégique importante pour la protection des routes militaires et commerciales et plus tard de la route postale Leipzig-Berlin et a été généreusement doté en conséquence de la colonie orientale allemande.
