Die Kathedrale von Santa Creu i Santa Eulàlia ist der Heiligen Kreuz und Santa Eulàlia, der Patronin von Barcelona, gewidmet, einer jungen Jungfrau, die, gemäß der katholischen Tradition, während der römischen Zeit das Martyrium erlitten hat. Die Widmung an Santa Eulàlia ist seit 877 bekannt, als der Bischof Frodoí die Überreste der Heiligen fand und feierlich in die Kathedrale brachte.
