La Cathédrale de la Sainte-Croix et de Sainte-Eulalie est dédiée à la Sainte-Croix et à Sainte-Eulalie, patronne de Barcelone, une jeune vierge qui, selon la tradition catholique, a souffert le martyre durant l'époque romaine. On connaît la dévotion à Sainte-Eulalie depuis 877, lorsque l'évêque Frodoï a localisé les restes de la sainte et les a transportés solennellement à la cathédrale.
