De Kathedraal van het Heilig Kruis en Santa Eulàlia is gewijd aan het Heilig Kruis en aan Santa Eulàlia, de patrones van Barcelona, een jonge maagd die, volgens de katholieke traditie, tijdens de Romeinse periode martelaarschap heeft geleden. De toewijding aan Santa Eulàlia staat bekend sinds 877, toen bisschop Frodoí de resten van de heilige vond en deze plechtig naar de kathedraal bracht.
